Search engine optimization is a great way to build up your online presence and move your website towards the top of a search engine’s results page but no amount of SEO will increase your sales if you can’t convert these great rankings into increased profit. SEO is sometimes seen as a very technical process and this is what scares people away from doing it but with a well formulated strategy and the ability to convert your rankings, it really could help you to grow your business and market it successfully online.
The good news is that whilst getting your website to appear high in the rankings is the hard part, converting this into an increased amount of traffic is relatively easy. So here are a few tips so that you can start taking advantage of your great rankings.

Use Persuasive Description Tags
Description meta tags are little blurbs that will be displayed under the title of your website when it appears on the search engine results page and while they aren’t taken into account during the ranking process, they can be used to persuade people to click on your site.
These descriptions should be no more than 155 characters long and should give your potential customers all they need to know to make them want to enter your site. Some of the most persuasive words in the English language are free, you and instantly so if these apply you should consider using them.
Use Key Search Terms In Your Tags
In SEO, the search terms that people will be using to find your website are known as keywords and these are very important when it comes to getting people to notice your business online. Although including these in your description tags won’t help you to rank higher they will help to increase clicks as they will be highlighted in bold and will draw attention to your listing.
Link Build To The Right Pages
Once people have decided to click on the link to your site, they don’t want to have to trawl through all the information on it in order to find what they are looking for. If they have typed in the term ‘black shoes’ they will want to be sent straight to the correct product page and not have to sift through all the other products you sell.
Although you may want them to look around a bit and make a few other purchases, sending them to a generic page could lead to them exiting your site and choosing a different one. You need to keep this in mind when you are link building so that all your targeted keywords will lead to the correct page.
Capture Them With A Compelling Site
Through all the intricate changes and the little details that you can include, the best way to capture any traffic that does enter you site and keep them there is to have an interesting and engaging site in the first place. However, having said that, sometimes less is more. Interactivity is great but it can be very distracting to have things moving all over the place when you are trying to read the information on the page.
You also might want to think about how deep you make your site. Whilst it may look professional for it to be intricate and detailed, if your potential customers have to click on more than two or three links to find what they need, they may choose to go somewhere else.
If you are in the lucky position of having great search engine rankings then these tips should help you to convert these into an increase in website traffic. However, if you feel that your rankings could do with a boost, you may want to hire a UK SEO company to do some SEO on your behalf.
